Tip·pe·ca·noe
a river in Indiana in the US, where US soldiers led by William Henry Harrison won a battle against the Shawnee, a Native American people, in 1811. Harrison himself, who later became President of the US, was given the nickname 'Tippecanoe' after the battle.
